What's a fact about your business that most customers probably don't know?

MemberFocus offers members surcharge free access to over 5,000 credit union locations and nearly 30,000 ATMs nationwide. That's more locations than some of the large banks!

When was the business founded?

MemberFocus Community Credit Union was originally founded in 1935 as Fordson Teacher's Credit Union. Our original location was inside of Fordson High School.

How did your business come to be?

As stated above, we started as the Fordson Teacher's Credit Union. We provided financial services exclusively for the teachers and staff at Fordson High School. In 1948, we expanded our operation to keep up with demand. We expanded our services to employees and relatives of the entire Dearborn School system, including Henry Ford Community College. At this time we changed our name to Dearborn Schools Credit Union to better reflect our business.

As the quality of service continued to increase, others in the community became interested in membership. In 2005, we amended our charter to become a community credit union; thus making our services available to all who live, work, worship, or attend school in western Wayne County. In 2007, we changed our name to MemberFocus Community Credit Union.

Today we are still going strong with a full line of financial products and services, bilingual employees, and a commitment to serve our local communities. We have been a non-profit, cooperative organization for over 75 years.

Why did you choose the area you did?

We currently offer two locations: In East Dearborn on Chase Road just north of Ford Road and in West Dearborn on North Telegraph Road just south of Ford Road. We chose offices in East AND West Dearborn so that we could offer convenience to the entire Dearborn Community.
