Great Escape Spa Offers Everyday Luxury in Dearborn
Spa owner Kim Merry is a happy veteran of the beauty business and wants to share the joy of massage–and for a special price this month only.
Kim Merry, owner of The Great Escape Spa in Dearborn, loves making people happy for a living.
“I love what I do. Period," says Merry, a resident of Lincoln Park. "I go to work happy because I love what I do: I love taking care of people. I have a passion for it, and so do my employees.”
"We treat you like kings and queens, no matter what," she continues. "This is a place where you come to relax and remove yourself from the hustle and bustle of the everyday work environment. People come here to relax and feel at home.”

Merry has been a veteran of the beauty industry for almost 20 years. She is also a licensed nail technician. Merry holds an instructor’s license and has taught at the Tri-State Beauty College in Taylor. Prior to venturing out on her own, she was the spa manager at the Fairlane Club in Dearborn for eight years.
She opened Great Escape almost three years ago, and hasn't looked back.

The services offered at Great Escape include full therapeutic body massage, aroma therapy massage, hot stone therapy massage, full body salt glow, algae body wrap, dead sea mud wrap, prenatal massage, reflexology, facials, pedicures, manicures and body waxing. These services are available by appointment.
And for the month of June, Great Escape is having a special on massages. Normally, a one-and-a-half-hour massage is $90 ($60 for an hour-long massage), but on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays of this month it’s $70. A combo special of a salt glow and half-hour massage is $85.
But special deals or not, Merry says business is going well.
"Everybody was like, ‘Kim, you can do it (start your own business).’ That’s easier said than done because I’m a single person and I don’t have a huge bank account, especially during this economy,” said Merry. “But I had a number of people behind me."
"The customers have been wonderful. Without them, I wouldn’t have been able to take this step," she continues. "People here genuinely care. My employees come in on the days they’re not supposed to work. It’s not about the money, it’s about the passion. We’re happy to be here. Together, we can make it work."
