Plans Approved to Turn Former Dearborn Banquet Hall Into Office Space

The facility on Michigan Avenue used to serve as a Knights of Columbus hall.

The Dearborn City Planning Commission on Monday approved a site plan review that aims to turn a former Knights of Columbus banquet hall into office space.

Architect Michael Tsakoff–who is working with the building's owner to renovate the building at 15800 Michigan Ave.–spoke before the Planning Commission Monday about their plan.

Tsakoff explained that the nearly 13,000-square-foot, two-story space was uniquely designed as a banquet hall.

"It's very difficult to try to find a use for this building," he added.

However, he said the owner has been approached by Hadi Group Distributors about leasing the entire space.

Hadi Group, which works with the administrative functions and the sale of new gas pumps to area stations, currently operates out of a smaller office on Chase Road, north of Ford Road.

"This building would allow them to showcase these products," Tsakoff explained.

The city is also looking to rezone space behind the building into more parking; however, the Planning Commission tabled that plan because of outstanding questions regarding how it would affect bordering residential neighbors.
