Fashion and Health Combine at Upcoming Dearborn Chamber Event

Love Yourself, Love Your Style returns to the Dearborn Inn on Feb. 2

With Valentine's Day fast approaching, the Dearborn Chamber of Commerce and DMC Harper-Hutzel Hospital want to encourage self love and fashion savvy among local women.

Love Yourself, Love Your Style, a wellness and fashion event in support of the American Heart Associations’ Go Red For Women Campaign, will return to the on Feb. 2.

The evening includea a talk with Cardiologist and DMC Health and Wellness Director Dr. Joel Kahn on “Love, Libido and Heart Health.” Attendees will learn how a steamy love life can perk up your immune system, burn calories, enhance your heart health, reduce pain and improve your overall health.

“We felt it was important to create the opportunity to educate women about health issues that impact us the most,” said Dearborn Chamber President Jennifer Giering. “With women’s busy schedules, we wanted to offer a one-stop forum for healthy living, networking opportunities and beauty advice.”  A reception featuring heart-healthy appetizers will be a part of this event.

After Dr. Kahn speaks, attendees will gather for a runway-style fashion show hosted by Barb Biess, agency owner and stylist for The Carlisle Collection; and Hoda Salameh, associate editor of metro Detroit-based StyleLine Magazine.

According to program coordinators, the fashion show will "highlight the hottest ways to upgrade your style for Spring 2012 with looks from New York’s Carlisle and Per Se Collections."

Local TV personalities, community leaders and businesswomen will serve as the event's models–including politician and wife of Congressman John Dingell, Debbie Dingell; Dearborn's first lady, Chris O'Reilly; Kelley, Maureen and Sara LaFontaine of LaFontaine Automotive Group; and former beauty queen and current WDIV traffic newscaster Ashlee Baracy.

Other Dearborn-based businesses participating include , a boutique that features unique handbags bags, one-of-a-kind jewelry, gift items and custom-made cards and invitations. will offer hair care tips and CID Design will provide custom-made jewelry.

Dr. Kahn will begin his remarks at 6 p.m. After the cocktail reception at 7 p.m., the fashion show will kick off. Tickets are $25 per person and include a complimentary glass of wine, appetizers with cash bar.
