At the age of 26, Realtor Ken Pozek is making a name for himself in the national real estate community.
Realtor Magazine, which is a National Association of Realtors' publication, has narrowed its pool of '30 Under 30' up-and-coming realtors to 50 finalists. Pozek is among them. The honor would mean a lot to him, he said.
"It would be recognition for work I have done as a young realtor," Pozek said. He said that to others he hopes the honor conveys the message that "Even though he’s a young guy, he’s at the top of his field."
Pozek, a native of Dearborn, currently lives in Northville with his wife and children. He is an agent for Keller Williams Realty and sells properties in Plymouth, Northville, Novi and South Lyon. According to his profile on the contest site, his 2011 "Individual Sales Volume" is $10.5 million.
He got his start buying, rehabilitating and selling homes in and around the Dearborn area in 2003 through his self-founded company, Ken Pozek LLC.
"I started out investing in real estate right out of high school," he said. "I bought homes with my graduation money."
When the housing market took a turn for the worse, he got out of investing and into sales.
Pozek's fate in the '30 Under 30' contest lies partly with a committee of judges and partly with voters. Voters can pick their favorite realtor through April 2 at the Realtor Magazine website.
According to the website, "In determining who makes the 30 Under 30 list, Realtor Magazine staff looks for candidates who are successful in the real estate business and have demonstrated ingenuity, creativity, and leadership in their careers."
Winners will be featured in the May/June issue of the magazine.
