Dearborn Cold Stone Closes Due to 'Recession'

The chain's Dearborn location closed shop this week.

West Dearborn shoppers looking for gourmet ice cream will now have to look elsewhere.

's only Dearborn located closed shop this week. A sign on the door directs customers to the Allen Park location, and cites economic reasons for the closure.

"Due to the recent economy and recession, we have regretfully closed our business," the sign reads.

The owner of the franchised location could not immediately be reached for comment.

The Cold Stone shop was part of the Burton-Katzman Company's West Village Commons development, which has seen several other closures over the past few years, including Rocky Mountain Chocolate Company and Maestro's Restaurant. However, it has also seen several successes, such as , The Well Bar, , and 's new location.

The company currently has more than 74,000 square feet of space in West Village Commons listed as leaseable retail property on their website.
