VIDEO: Dearborn Chamber of Commerce Hosts Walkabout

The Dearborn Chamber of Commerce talked to local business owners about doing business in the city.

The Dearborn Chamber of Commerce teamed up with the city of Dearborn to conduct a "walkabout" on Tuesday, Oct. 18.

Teams comprised of chamber ambassadors and city officials canvassed all areas of Dearborn in an effort to gain a better understanding of the local business climate in the city.

Business owners were asked a series of questions, including individual business performance, what they like best about operating a business in Dearborn, and what changes could be made to improve doing business in the city.

Areas of concern mentioned were parking issues, safety concerns, feeling the effects of a downtrodden economy and the city's changing demographics.

"We received some great feedback from the business owners," said Peggy Richard, director of events for the chamber. "We will work to compile the results and find the best way to work with the businesses and the city to see that some of these issues are addressed."
