Camp Dearborn Changes Pet Policy for 2013 Season

The campground now offers pet friendly sites from May 24 through Sept. 2.

Camp Dearborn is welcoming pets and their owners to select campgrounds for the 2013 camping season.

The camp has designated several "pet friendly" sites on a trial basis from May 24 through Sept. 2.

"In the past, we were only allowing pets prior to Memorial Day and after Labor Day, which cost us a lot of business," Kathryn Oldford, office assistant at Camp Dearborn said. "Now people can bring their pets with them all summer long."

The new policy applies to sites 121-127, and 154-161 for full hook-up RV access; and electric sites 162-191. Patrons will pay an extra $2 a day to use the pet friendly areas.

According to the camp's website, animals must be kept on a leash at all times, and up to date on all vaccinations. Dogs cannot be left unattended and are not allowed in buildings, lakes, pools, cabins, or tents. Pets must stay in designated areas of the park.
