Biggby Coffee Opens Location in Dearborn Heights, First to Offer Halal Food

The coffee shop will offer a selection of gourmet hot and cold beverages as well as Bragel sandwiches.

A new Biggby Coffee franchise is open for business in Dearborn Heights following the store's official grand opening on Tuesday morning.

The store, located at 25421 Ford Road, is owned and operated by long-time business owners and father-son duo, Hassan and Maher Dabaja of Dearborn.

Although they are new to the Biggby Coffee company, they have been devoted business owners for a combined 35 years.

"We chose the Biggby franchise because we believe in Michigan based companies, since they provide a backbone for our state and communities," said Maher Dabaja.

Hassan Dabaja previously owned Dabaja Tire Center and has partnered with many individuals throughout the community. Since Maher also prides himself on helping others, the new  store will be a place for friends, family and community members to gather for relaxation and fun, he said.

The Dearborn Heights location will be the first Biggby franchise to serve halal meat products. “Halal” refers to meeting Islamic requirements for preparing food. God’s name must be invoked before an animal providing meat for consumption is slaughtered.

"We are greatly pleased that Biggby accommodated our community’s requests. They have shown us they are an open-minded company," said Hassan Dabaja.

The new store offers free Wi-Fi, specialty lattes, smoothies, tea and will feature halal Bragels.

The store is open Monday through Saturday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. For coupons and  specials, visit: http://www.biggby.com/images/ewards/341GrandOpeningFlyer.html.
