Dearborn Students Volunteer at Gleaners for Hunger Awareness Month

Students helped sort 40,000 pounds of food donated by Sony Pictures and Duda Farm Fresh Foods.

On Monday, 50 students from Dearborn Heights Montessori Center volunteered at Gleaners Community Food Bank.

Students helped unload and sort 40,000 pounds of fresh produce in support of Hunger Action Month. The food was donated by Sony Pictures' new movie Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2. Donations included fresh produce, including celery, carrots, lettuce, strawberries and watermelon from Duda Farm Fresh Foods.
“This opportunity allowed Duda Farm Fresh Foods to support Feeding America’s Hunger Action Month and help end hunger in local communities,” Dan Duda, president of Duda Farm Fresh Foods, said in a press release. “We are committed to carrying out our family's 87-year commitment of giving to those in need."
