Sirens of Chrome Exhibit Parks It at Automotive Hall of Fame

The Sirens of Chrome have made their way to the Automotive Hall of Fame. It's a traveling exhibit that will park at the museum through Jan. 5, and showcases the women and men who model the latest models.

Of course we're not just talking about eye candy in an evening gown standing in front of the latest and greatest thing on wheels. The exhibit focuses on the men and women who help sell a car, whether it was as a 1950s sex symbol or as a modern product specialist.

Visitors will take a joyride through this glamorous chapter in automotive history and view images of turn-of-the-century goddesses, 1950s sex symbols, and the modern pitch-person and expert. Guests will also view posters and photographs of fast cars, auto show fashions and even human hood ornaments.

“The talent at auto shows throughout the past century have gone though as much of an evolution as the cars,” said Margery Krevsky, founder and owner of Productions Plus–The Talent Shop, a national firm that recruits, outfits and trains talent for auto shows.

She's also the author of the award-winning book, Sirens of Chrome: The Enduring Allure of Auto Show Models. “Auto show models truly morphed from ‘plaster to poster to person’ and now serve as ambassadors of their brand who entice customers with facts and vehicle comparison information.”

The exhibit follows the book's format, with plenty of visuals -- nearly 75 photos, posters, auto show programs and car magazine covers. Production Plus-The Talent Shop has also lent auto show fashions that guests can check out.

The Automotive Hall of Fame is open Wednesday through Sunday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission is $8 for adults, $6 seniors and students 13-18, and $4 for youths 5-12. To learn more, please visit www.automotivehalloffame.org.
