Henry Ford Museum Hosts Local Roots Dining Event

Henry Ford Museum is serving up an opporunity for foodies to sample some of the best cuisine Michigan has to offer at its Touring the Mitten Local Roots Spring Evening Dining event.

The Henry Ford’s award-winning culinary team is responsible for this delicious evening, which features  locally-sourced and made in Michigan dishes.

The culinary tour begins with hors d’oeuvres of Dearborn Sausage kielbasa served with onion pops and a Michigan mushroom ragout on a toasted crostini bun. Next, guests will be able to stroll station to station tasting the main dishes, including U.P. wild game pasties, roast strip loin with Detroit Zip Sauce, Detroit mini Coneys and Frankenmuth-style Kassler Rippchen with Rode Kooi Met Appeltjes (beef stew with red cabbage and apples.)

Several savory side dishes await diners as well, including polenta with venison sausage and grilled ramps, smoked whitefish and shrimp cakes with New Holland Spirits’ vodka sauce, roasted beef and onion salad, Holland cheese straws called Kaasstengels, cheese pierogies and caramelized onions and a Greek and Maurice salad station. Dessert stations will be set up as well, featuring Michigan Maple Bread Pudding, Shernni’s Historic Candy display, Detroit Cooler Floats and Sanders Hot Fudge cream puffs.

Tickets are $70 per person. Cash bar opens at 6:30 p.m., with dinner served at 7 p.m. Capacity for this event is limited and reservations are required. To purchase tickets, please call (313) 982-6001.
