Dearborn Symphony Orchestra Wraps Up 2013 Season on May 3

The orchestra will perform a selection of pieces by Beethoven, Holst, and Brahms at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center.

The Dearborn Symphony Orchestra is gearing up for its final concert of the 2013 season.

The concert will take place at 8 p.m. May 3 at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, and features the music of Ludwig van Beethoven's "Symphony No. 1," as well as Gustav Holst's “Jupiter” from “The Planets.”

Other performances include the introduction and Movements 1 and 2 from Max Bruch's "Scottish Fantasy"; Johannes Brahm's "Piano Concerto in D Minor"; and Jean Sibelius' "Finlandia."

This concert will feature violinist Anna Mieczkowski and pianist Heather Shen, the winners of the symphony's Youth Artists Solo Competition.

Shen is the 2012 semi-finalist in the Eastman Young Artists International Piano Competition Senior Division. She studies with Logan Skelton at the University
of Michigan.

"You won’t want to miss this very special concert with two phenomenally talented musicians," the orchestra said in a press release.

This concert is made possible in part by the Exchange Club of Dearborn.

Following the concert, the symphony's Forte afterglow group will meet. The group is open to young professionals between the ages of 21-39.
