Dearborn Native, Actor Chad Everett Dies

Everett graduated from Fordson High School and went on to become famous for his role in the TV series "Medical Center."

TV and film actor Chad Everett–a Dearborn native–has died.

He was 76.

According to The Huffington Post, Everett's daughter confirmed that he died Tuesday in his Los Angeles home after a year-and-a-half-long battle with lung cancer.

Born Raymon Lee Crampon in South Bend, IN, he was raised in Dearborn. Everett–who changed his name after entering show business–attended , where his interest in theater blossomed.

He was best known for his role as Dr. Joe Gannon on the 1970s television drama Medical Center.

Everett is survived by his two daughters and six grandchildren. His wife of 45 years, Shelby Grant, passed away in 2011.
