Dearborn Art Students Compete in Statewide Farmers Market Contest

A citywide high school program called Pockets of Perception is going up against 19 other artists and art groups in a statewide apple-painting competition.

A group of Dearborn high school students are bringing apple season to the Dearborn Farmers Market early this year. As part of a statewide art competition, the students are painting a 4-foot-tall fiberglass apple this summer. The contest–judged at Detroit Eastern Market's Apple Gala and Auction on Oct. 14–includes 20 markets across the state.
