Award-Winning Photographer's Work Now Showing at Dearborn Gallery

The work of Monte Nagler will be at the Padzieski Gallery through March 29.

The work of Farmington Hills-based photographer Monte Nagler can be found in the Detroit Institute of Arts; the University of Michigan Museum of Art; the Grand Rapids Art Museum; Ford Motor Company—and through March 29, also in Dearborn's Padzieski Art Gallery.

An exhibition of select color and black and white photographs by Nagler opened Feb. 20 in the gallery, which is located inside of the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center.

All works are for sale.

Nagler is known for his high-contrast landscapes of everywhere from Northern Michigan to Italy. He credits his time of study under Ansel Adams as inspiring him to take his work more seriously.

"It was during that period of intensive work that I realized that making photographs is a way to experience beauty instead of just looking at it," Nagler says on his website.

Tea Time with the Artist will be held Wednesday, March 20, at 3 p.m. in the gallery.

Fans of Nagler's work can also meet the artist at a wine tasting in March, hosted by the Dearborn Community Arts Council. The evening will include samples of six wines, hors d'oeuvres, and a meet-and-greet with Nagler.

The event will take place at 7 p.m. March 19 at the Padzieski Gallery. Tickets are $25, and must be purchased by March 5 by calling 313-943-3095.
