The family-friendly faire features everything from technological inventions to homemade crafts to kid-engineered robots. A hands-on event, Maker Faire celebrates the creativity and resourcefulness of everyday people.

“Maker Faire Detroit continues to grow each year with more wonderfully talented doers, thinkers and makers, especially with the youth here in our region,” said Patricia Mooradian, president of The Henry Ford. “It’s inspiring to see the amount of creativity and passion displayed by the young makers who come to showcase their creations and inventions. The Henry Ford is home to many innovations from the past, but it is also part of our mission to help spark something in the innovators of the future.”

Created by the publishers of MAKE magazine and makezine.com, Maker Faire draws tech and DIY enthusiasts. The event attracts families, school teachers, students, local science, hobby and tech clubs, as well as those who are drawn by a curiosity for the unorthodox and often whimsical MacGyver-like nature of Makers and their projects.

Maker Faire will feature demonstrations and hands-on workshops over the two days. Visitors will enjoy arts and crafts, science and engineering, robotics, sustainable living, music and fine arts, fun for kids and families and more.

Since its inaugural event in 2010, more than 60,000 people have attended to view the wares, fares, ideas and inventions at Maker Faire Detroit. Maker Faire Detroit is independently organized and operated under license from O’Reilly Media, Inc.

The Henry Ford event always includes artists and inventors from the Dearborn area, too—including TechShop Detroit in Allen Park.
