Zagat's Pick for Michigan's Doughnut – and Why You'll Have to Wait to Enjoy It

You can only enjoy Zagat's choice for the best doughnut to represent the Mitten State for a few months. So you tell us: Where's the best doughnut in Michigan?

Zagat chose the Cinnamon Spice doughnut at Franklin Cider Mill in Bloomfield Hills in its “50 States, 50 Donuts” post.

Zagat loved the Cinnamon Spice doughnut, served with – what else – hot apple cider because it has “a crispy exterior and is bursting with cinnamon flavor.” The fluffy pastry is the only type of doughnut made at the Franklin Cider Mill, built in 1837, and it’s based on a classic German recipe.

It’s delectable, to be sure, but it’s only available from the Saturday before Labor Day to the Sunday after Thanksgiving.
