Tim Hogan, “head coach” of the Grace Counseling Center in Detroit, will explore the attributes of a healthy marriage at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 8, at Grosse Pointe Memorial Church, 16 Lakeshore Blvd. in Grosse Pointe Farms.
He will help couples create and recreate an amazing marriage, teach little known secrets to staying connected, particularly when in conflict; help couples to effectively address the real, core problems that erode marital friendship; help couples to create a health and life-giving spiritually of marriage and teach couples how to increase positivity.
Tim Hogan is a Certified Imago Relationship Therapist (CIRT), who enjoys working with couples, men’s issues and the challenge of intentional spiritual transformation. He co-authored How to Find the Help you Need, a guide to psychotherapy and spiritual direction.
There is no charge for this seminar, and everyone in the community is invited.
Tim Hogan’s presentation begins a series of discussions at the church, which will continue on two Sundays at 10:10 a.m. (between the 9 and 11 a.m. worship services). On May 11, secrets of a long-term marriage will be explored. On Sunday, May 18, talk will continue with lessons learned about dealing with loss and problems of addiction.
On Tuesday, May 27 from 7 – 8:30 p.m. couples will present ideas on how to make a blended family work.
“All couples should have an annual checkup, just like going for a physical,” says church member Howard Hill, who is organizing the marriage sessions. “This is not meant only for couples going through rough times, but for all of us who need reminders of what makes a healthy, happy marriage.”
Future note: Couples who wish may attend the “Blessing of Marriage Celebration and Reception” outside on the church’s Trinity Terrace, Saturday, June 7 from 4:30 – 7 p.m.
