Weather Forces Organizers to Change Location of 9/11 Service

The annual "Interfaith Service of Prayer and Remembrance of 9/11" will be held today at 7 p.m. at city hall.

DEARBORN — An interfaith service to mark the 12th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks has been moved to the Dearborn City Council Chambers at city hall.

The public ceremony was originally scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at Hemlock Park, but was changed to city hall due to a 60 percent chance of rain after 6 p.m.

Organized by the Dearborn Area Faith Network, the commemoration will feature reading and reflections by leaders from a variety of religions, as well as music and a candle-lighting ceremony.

Dearborn Mayor John B. O’Reilly, Jr. and Dearborn Heights Mayor Dan Paletko have been invited to give short remarks.

The ceremony is expected to last about 30 minutes. City hall is located at 13615 Michigan Ave.
