Viewfinder: Cat in the Hat Comes to Dearborn
Henry Ford Centennial Library held an event Wednesday in celebration of National Read Across America Day and Dr. Seuss' birthday.
For many children, the door to reading opens with the iconic children's book The Cat in the Hat.
In celebration of legendary author Dr. Seuss' 107th birthday, as well as Read Across America Day, yet another generation of readers was introduced to Seussville Wednesday at Dr. Seuss' Birthday Bash, held at Dearborn's .
The event was held as part of Dearborn Public Library's Family Literacy Night series.

It was sponsored by IMPACT, which stands for Inspiring Mentors Parents and Children Together. IMPACT is run by AmeriCorps volunteers, is part of Dearborn-based Child's Hope, a nonprofit organization working to help underprivileged children in Wayne County.
Children of all ages were welcome to attend Dr. Seuss' Birthday Bash, and enjoyed an afternoon of free crafts, as well as story time with the Cat in the Hat and his helpers, Thing 1 and Thing 2.
