Trash Collection Suspended Due to Snow

Republic announced that all trucks were called back Monday morning, but will resume service Tuesday.

Is the trash you set out last night still on the curb, covered in a foot of snow?

According to a release sent out this morning, Republic Services, which collects trash in Dearborn, suspended collection service operations due to the large amount of snow still on the roads.

Republic said they will resume trash collection tomorrow, and all trash pick-ups will be set back one day. Monday's collection will be done on Tuesday; Tuesday's will be done on Wednesday; and so on.

Republic also sent a reminder to the residents it serves to ask that trash bags and cans, as well as recycling bins, be placed on the curb and out of the snow. "It is important to ensure that all materials are easily identified and accessible by Republic's collection staff," said Municipal Services Manager Scott Cabauatan.

"On behalf of everyone at Republic," Cabauatan added, "we appreciate your cooperation and patience while we safely work through this storm to provide collection services."

Dearborn is also still under a snow emergency, so cars must remain parked off of the streets until further notice.

All questions regarding trash pick-up should be directed to Republic's call center at 800-878-4626.
