Social Justice Conference in Dearborn Set for Saturday

Topics at the conference include immigration reform, foreclosure prevention and workers' rights.

The Alliance for Immigrants Rights and Reform, along with the Michigan Organizing Project, will host a social justice forum with state and federal officials at UAW Local 600 in Dearborn on Saturday.

The forum is open to the public, and takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. State Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Detroit, along with U.S. Rep. John Conyers, Jr. will attend the event.

"We will organize hundreds of local residents to build grassroots power toward historic immigration reform and social justices issues including foreclosure prevention and workers’ rights," the AIRR said in a press release.

"Business owners, block club captains, religious leaders, immigrant and native-born families will all be gathered to learn how they can help repair the broken immigration system and heal families and communities in the process."
