Oakwood Hospital Welcomes First Baby of 2012
Gabriela Mandernach was born at 12:09 a.m. Jan. 1
Oakwood Healthcare welcomed the hospital system's first baby of 2012 shortly after the clocks marked the start of the new year.
Gabriela Mandernach was born at 12:09 a.m. on Jan. 1 at the in Dearborn, weighing 6 pounds, 8 ounces and measuring 20 inches long. She was an early gift to her parents, Thomas Mandernach and Catalina Rojas of Lincoln Park. Her due date was Jan. 10.
“She was just having pains, no contractions or anything,” Mandernach said of Rojas. “But they ended up keeping her and the next thing we knew, here (Gabriela) was.”

Mandernach has a 13-year old son and Rojas has two daughters, aged 3 and 7. Gabriala is the couples’ first baby together.
