Michigan Civil Rights Group Offers First-Ever Anti-Discrimination App: Download It

Did you witness a discriminatory act? There’s an app for that – likely the first of its kind anywhere, the Dearborn-based American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee of Michigan says.

The Civil Rights Action App allows users to instantly report discrimination, ethnic harassment and other forms of bigotry to ADC-Michigan from their mobile phones, according to a news release posted on the civil rights organization’s Facebook page.

It also provides information about citizens’ legal rights at work, while traveling and when interacting with federal agents. Users can also share news stories and ADC alerts through the app, which interfaces with Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

“This app is truly unique among civil rights organizations,” said attorney Fatina Abdrabboh, who is the director of ADC-Michigan. “By providing a platform to engage through mobile technology and social media, we’re continuing on our mission to empower the margins and promote inclusion in all spheres of society.

“The best thing about this app is that all you need is a phone to mobilize civil rights advocacy in your community, no matter your proximity to our offices.”

The app, available for free, commemorates the 50th anniversary of passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Download the app for IOS here or Android here.
