Memorial Fund Established for Family of Brenna Machus

Donations will be accepted at Chase Bank locations in Dearborn and Wyandotte.

A memorial fund to help the family of Brenna Machus has been established at Chase Bank.

Machus' body was found in a wooded area near the Southfield Freeway (M-39) and Michigan Avenue in Dearborn on Thursday. Machus, 20, of Romulus, was reported missing from the Family Dollar store in west Dearborn on July 16. Joseph Orlando of Dearborn, a fellow employee, was found shot to death in the store Tuesday morning.

The Brenna Machus Memorial Fund will cover any expenses for Machus' funeral. Donations exceeding the family's cost will be sent to Michigan Crime Stoppers and shared with the family of Joseph Orlando.

A spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Machus' family is also being planned at the VFW Post 1136 in Wyandotte. For more information on the fundraiser, email Kaylyn Lee at brennamachusmemorialfund@gmail.com.

The funeral for Brenna Machus is scheduled for July 23 at J.L. Peters Funeral Home, 3880 Fort St. in Lincoln Park. Family visitation is from 10 a.m. to noon July 22. A public visitation is scheduled for noon to 8 p.m.

The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on July 23 preceded by a public visitation beginning at 9 a.m.
