HYPE to Host Coats for Kids Drive Saturday

The partnership with radio station WJLB and the Salvation Army will collect winter items for children in need.

Want to hang out with some of today's biggest hip-hop and R&B artists? All it takes is a donation to help Metro Detroit kids in need.

HYPE Athletics, the Salvation Army and FM98 WJLB will partner this Saturday to host the 30th annual Coats for Kids Radiothon, broadcast live from the HYPE Recreation Center.

The center is located at 23302 West Warren Ave. in Dearborn Heights.

The event, which runs from 9 a.m.-9 p.m., aims to collect donations of gently worn coats, hats, gloves and other wintry wear for children in need in Metro Detroit.

Gusts can get in by bringing a donation, and will get the chance to hear as WJLB interviews artists live at HYPE to spread awareness about the event and raise funds for the cause. Some of the participating artists will include Diggy Simmons, Jacob Latimore, Omarion, Cash Out, LoveRance and Cymphonique will be on-site to help raise funds.

Additionally, WJLB will raffle off prizes for a $1-per-ticket donation—including an item autographed by Eminem.
