Hundreds of Cars Cruise Into Dearborn for Annual Corvette Concours Event

Corvette owners will compete for the prestigious Arkus-Duntov Cup on Sept. 13 at Les Stanford Chevrolet.

Les Stanford Chevrolet in Dearborn will transform into a massive playground for thousands of car enthusiasts and gawkers Sept. 13 for the fourth annual Motor City Corvette Concours car show.

The event will feature contests, live entertainment, food and the “best of the best” Corvettes across Michigan nominated from area shows held throughout the summer car show season.

Participating clubs include: A1nerica’s Corvette Club of Michigan, the Corvette Club of Michigan, Corvette Legends Club, Flint Corvette Club, GMC Corvette Set, TeamCorvette, The V-8 Estate Corvette Club and the Corvette Club of Windsor.

The event is open to all Corvettes, from stock to custom, modified and restored. The dealership will also have a 2014 model Corvette available for viewing.

Tony Aguirre, manager at Les Stanford Chevrolet, said he is expecting anywhere from 100 to 150 cars parked on the lot.

"This is a great event for anyone who wants to get a close-up look at these amazing vehicles," Aguirre said.

The main attraction will be the Concours class competition. Thirty cars will compete in an invitation-only event judged on cleanliness, attention to detail and preparedness. Any entrant must be prepared to a level of detail that approaches perfection.

Only vehicles that have been entered in at least three nationally-sanctioned competitions are eligible to compete for the Arkus-Duntov Cup, a special trophy named after the engineer who developed the original Corvette, Zora Arkus-Duntov.

In addition, a unique Motor City Corvette Concours award will be presented to the Concours class winner. All of the Concours class entrants will receive a personalized commemorative award for their participation.
