Get Ready for Relay with Thursday Open House in Dearborn

Relay for Life 2013 planning is already under way. Here's how to get involved.

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Dearborn is hosting an Informational Open House at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center on Thursday, Nov. 15, from 6-8 p.m.

The meeting will take place in Club Room No. 1

Although the Relay For Life of Dearborn is more than six months away, now is the time to get involved. Residents are invited to attend the open house to learn more about the 2013 Relay For Life and how they can become part of the overnight event that aims to raise funds for less cancer and more birthdays.

Relay For Life is the ACS signature event, dedicated to increasing awareness and raising funds to fight cancer. Teams of family, friends and co-workers camp out overnight, taking turns walking the track.

During the event, participants and vistors will have a chance to: celebrate the victory of local cancer survivors during the Survivors Lap; remember those we have lost to the disease during the poignant Luminaria Ceremony and participate in the Fight Back Ceremony that gives everyone a chance to proclaim their way of taking action against the disease.
