Eukanuba, Iams Issue Pet Food Recall

The voluntary recall is for some dry dog and cat food products because of possible salmonella contamination.

The pet food companies Iams and Eukanuba have issued a voluntary recall of certain dry dog and cat food products because of possible salmonella contamination.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the affected food was distributed to retail outlets across the United States.

A complete list of products is available on the FDA website.

No salmonella-related illnesses have been reported to date in association with the products, according to the FDA.

Pets with salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, contact a veterinarian.

A representative for the Kroger store at 15255 Michigan Ave., and 23303 Michigan Ave. in Dearborn, said the affected products have been removed from store shelves.
