Dearborn's Springwells Park to Host Garden Tour, Fun Run
The Saturday event will raise funds for the American Cancer Society.
Dearborn's Springwells Park community is offering a chance to run through their streets–then stroll through their gardens–this Saturday.
The neighborhood, located off of Greenfield Road near Rotunda Drive, will be hosting a 5K Fun Run and a Garden Tour this Saturday to raise proceeds for the American Cancer Society. The run will take place at 8 a.m., while the tour begins at 10 a.m.
The Garden Tour is held roughly biannually, but this year, the addition of the Fun Run promises an enjoyable occasion set in the peaceful, verdant neighborhood. In previous years, the event has raised more than $1,500 for charities, such as the Dearborn Firefighters Burn Drive.

Nadia Dakroub, chairperson of the Garden Tour and Springwells Park resident, has confirmed 18 homes open to tour participants–including her own garden.
The tour will exhibit the beauty of the historic neighborhood, which was founded by Edsel Ford in 1939. Each garden, maintained by its respective owner, offers a unique style and atmosphere of flora.

“It’s a very relaxing event through a beautiful, historic community," Dakroub said, "and it benefits a tremendous cause."
The proceeds from both events will benefit the American Cancer Society in support of Denise Abdullah, Springwells Park resident and founder of the “Cool Chicks Conquering Cancer,” a group that actively raises money for the American Cancer Society through the Relay For Life. Currently, Abdullah is the chairwoman of the Dearborn and Dearborn Heights segment of the Relay For Life and has been for the past two years.
“Denise has always been an excellent friend and a great neighbor, so we chose to support the enthusiastic effort and work she accomplishes through our tour and run," Dakroub said of their charity of choice.
Those interested in either the Fun Run or the Garden Tour may purchase tickets at three locations: (on the intersection of Greenfield Road and Rotunda,) (on Rotunda between Southfield and Greenfield Road,) or online at www.Springwellspark.org.
Tickets in advance for the Fun Run and Garden Tour are $15 and $8, respectively. The costs of tickets the day of the event are $20 and $10. High-quality T-shirts are included in the cost for the Fun Run. A discounted price is available for those who wish to participate in both.
