Dearborn's Own Royal Cat Up for Adoption

Forget the royal wedding. Big Ben the cat will bring a touch of English class right into your home.

The royal wedding has (almost) finally fallen out of the news. But this week's breaking story? An equally royal cat named Big Ben is up for adoption at the Dearborn Animal Shelter.

This short-haired cat will bring a bit of English charm to any household. From his almost all-white coat with a few tabby stripes to his elegantly curled left ear, this 3-year-old handsome boy is as unique as he is sweet.

The adoption fee for an adult cat such as Big Ben is normally $80, but has been lowered to $25 to help reduce the large number of cats and kittens at the shelter. Adoption fees include a basic medical exam, behavior assessment, age-appropriate vaccinations, parasite and worm check, spay or neuter, microchip ID, travel box, cat comforter and cat care information. An optional, but recommended, combination feline AIDS and feline leukemia test (for cats 12 weeks and older) is an additional $20.

Adopters are also eligible for pet insurance from PetFirst HealthCare at an introductory price of $5 for the first month. The price includes accident and illness coverage with any veterinarian. Adopters must register their pet within 20 days of adoption by calling 866-937-PETS or visiting www.petfirstadoption.com.
