Dearborn Shelter Hosting Adoption Event This Saturday

The event will be held at the Friends Training Center in Dearborn from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Dearborn Animal Shelter will be hosting a special adoption event this Saturday, Dec. 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Friends Training Center in Dearborn.

The event is part of an ongoing December campaign, “Home 4 the Holidays,” which the organization participates in each year. There will be dogs and cats, both young and old, all ready to find families to call their own.

“The idea is to find homes for as many of the homeless animals as possible before the year end," said Elaine Greene, executive director of Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter. "We have had a very busy 2013 with animals coming through our doors and this is a great time of year for families to open their hearts to new pet family members."

To help encourage adoptions during the event, the Shelter is offering reduced adoption fees for some of the animals.  Adult cats (6 months or older) are only $5 to adopt, and adult dogs in the care of the Shelter for 31 days or longer are only $50 to adopt.

The longer term resident dogs will also come with a $50 voucher toward their first veterinary visit.
