Dearborn Named Third Best Place in Michigan for Job Seekers

NerdWallet ranked 34 communities in Michigan by median income, monthly homeowner costs, population growth, and unemployment rates.

The City of Dearborn was recently ranked as the third best place in Michigan for job seekers by NerdWallet, a consumer advocacy site.

Livonia was number one, followed by Midland, Dearborn, Rochester Hills and Kentwood. A total of 34 communities with populations greater than 25,000 were included in the list.

NerdWallet's analysis is based on median income, monthly homeowner costs, population growth, and unemployment rates. 

According to the site, Dearborn saw an 8.9 percent increase in the working-age population between 2009 and 2011. The median household income for 2011 in Dearborn was $46,685, with monthly homeowner costs of $1,497. The city's unemployment rate for 2013 was 7 percent, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Dearborn’s top employers include ADP, Oakwood Healthcare and Ford Motor Company.
