Dearborn Named "Best City for Auto Mechanics"
ValuePenguin ranks Dearborn at No. 17th in the country for mechanics looking for work.
The city of Dearborn is well known for its connection to the automobile industry. It's the birthplace of Henry Ford and home to the Ford Motor Company's world headquarters.
Recently, Dearborn was also named as one of ValuePenguin's top cities for auto mechanics, too.
Using a combination of factors from salaries, the employment concentration of the trade, and cost of living, the website developed a list of approximately 400 cities it ranks as the best place to find a job as a mechanic.
Dearborn ranks No. 17 on the list. According to ValuePenguin, the median salary for mechanics in the Dearborn/Detroit area is $43,820.
The No. 1 city on the company's list is Texarkana, Texas. This community of 68,000 residents is home to 520 mechanics - the second highest concentration of this profession in America.
