Dearborn Arts Organizations Team Up for Guido Theater Fundraiser

"Saturday Night Alive" will be an exciting evening of entertainment and artistic expression. All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Michael A. Guido Theater.

Some of Dearborn’s most talented performers and artists will come together Feb. 1 for the first ever "Saturday Night Alive," an exciting gala of music, theater and fabulous food that will benefit the Michael A. Guido Theater.

Dearborn’s premier theater, located in the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, is home to many nonprofit community-based arts organizations. Now those organizations are teaming up to raise money for much needed improvements to the theater.

“For more than 12 years now, audiences and performers alike have enjoyed the wonderful acoustics and lighting of shows at the Michael A. Guido Theater,” said EmmaJean Woodyard, executive director of the Dearborn Community Fund. “But improvements are needed to bring the sound and lighting systems that enhance the sound and visual elements of performances up to date."

At 8 p.m. the curtain rises on a collage concert featuring Dearborn’s finest performing groups including the Dearborn Symphony, Vanguard Voices, Dearborn Community Chorus, Motor City Brass Band, Players Guild of Dearborn and the Dearborn Public Schools Honors Choir.

Following the concert, guests will be treated to an array of tantalizing desserts with music provided by the Edsel Ford High School Jazz Band. A cash bar will be available.

The evening will also include “Artistic Expressions,” a raffle featuring unique artwork and an opportunity to visit the Juried Photo Exhibition in the Padzieski Art Gallery.

Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. The ticket price is a tax deductible donation. All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the 1,201-seat Michael A. Guido Theater.

"Our goal is to raise a significant portion of the funds needed to replace this equipment during the Saturday Night Alive gala," Woodyard said. "We are pleased that all the partner organizations have come together to make this event so special.”
