UPDATE: Dearborn Animal Shelter Needs Help to Find Missing Dog

A recently adopted dog named Zoey ran off Friday from Caputo Animal Hospital in Dearborn Heights.

UPDATE, 12 p.m. Jan. 4: According to the Dearborn Animal Shelter, Zoey was captured Wednesday morning by Dearborn Animal Control officer Jenny Jackson in the area of Warren Avenue and Ann Arbor Trail.

"Zoey appears to be in good health and is resting at the shelter," the shelter said in an email Wednesday afternoon.

According to the shelter, "Zoey led a search team of Jenny and shelter staff on a two-hour trek that started this morning and led the group from the Telegraph/Ann Arbor Trail area of Dearborn Heights north to Beech Daly/West Chicago and then back down to where the dog was caught at the border of Dearborn Heights and Detroit."

UPDATE, 10 a.m. Dec. 31: According to the Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter Facebook page, "Zoey is running near Pat Milliken Ford and behind World Outreach Church, there is a thicket back there and they can't find her again."

A group is planning on convening at 1:15 p.m. in the church parking lot to distribute fliers and several people are already out searching for Zoey.

The is requesting public assistance finding a missing dog in the Dearborn Heights area.

The dog, a cattle mix named Zoey, fled Friday from the Caputo Animal Hospital, located at 8188 N. Telegraph Road, between Ann Arbor Trail and Joy Road, in Dearborn Heights.

Zoey was adopted this week from the shelter and was being taken to the clinic to be spayed.

No photo is available of her. The shelter describes her as around 25-30 pounds, with a smooth coat, reddish, spotted markings, and the build of a small terrier.

Anyone with information on Zoey's whereabouts is asked to call the shelter at 313-943-2697 during business hours, or 313-903-5522 after hours. The shelter is open 9 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Dec. 31.
