Dearborn $1M Lottery Winners Named
The couple are retired and plan their first big spend to be on Christmas presents for their children and grandchildren.
Retirement will be worry-free for Eugene and Nancy Gaspar of Dearborn, who were announced Wednesday as $1 million winners of the Nov. 8 Powerball drawing.
According to a release from the Michigan Lottery, the couple couldn't believe they had won with a ticket they bought at the CVS Pharmacy on Ford Road.
“I was in shock, numb,” said Eugene Gaspar of realizing he and his wife of 56 years had had won. “We won’t have any money worries in the future."

The numbers, he revealed, were a compilation of his grandchildren’s birthdates.
Appropriately, Nancy added that their first big splurge would be on Christmas presents for their four children and four grandchildren.

“I can’t think of anything I really need," she added. "We’ve had a good life.”
“This couldn’t have happened to two better people,” added their daughter Nancy.
The Nov. 28 drawing was the largest Powerball drawing in history, with a jackpot that topped $587 million. The amount resulted in lottery fever in all participating states, and resulted in two jackpot winners in Arizona and Missouri.
