Daily Specials: The menu lists all of the daily specials first. While there are no German specials on the list, the Ground Round Wellington is a particulary decadent take on the classic hamburger. A patty is wrapped in butter dough and blanketed in gravy. Comfort food at its most basic. Each daily special includes of slice of the pie of the day.
German Fare: All of the heavy hitters of classical German cuisine are on the menu. Lunch portions are available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Mostly meat and starch, there are very few vegetarian items on the menu. Potato pancakes and Quiche Alpine are a couple of veggie choices.
For those who desire meat, Richter's has you covered. Try the rindsroulade, a choice round steak, rolled and stuffed with bacon, rice and onion. Served with a special sauce, meat wrapped around bacon stuffing is proof of the existence of a higher power. Sausages and schnitzels are all on the menu, too.
Sure there are menu items other than German dishes, but they don't require much more than a mention. Meatloaf, chicken tenders and hamburgers, among others, are there for those who aren't in the mood for German.
Steak and Seafood: Worth mentioning is the wide selection of steaks and fish. T-Bone, sirloin, haddock, flounder, and scallops are all available as well as other meat and seafood options. Fisherman's Bounty has perch, scallops, shrimp, frog legs and haddock. Sure, it's all fried, but a great deal at $12.95.
All dinners served with a choice of soup, salad, or coleslaw; potato, vegetable and homemade bread and butter.
Dessert: Do not under any circumstances leave Richter's without indulging in dessert. The Schwarzaelder Kirsch Torte, Apple strudel, or Hazelnut Raspberry Tort are all excellent and none cost more than $4.
Signature Dish: German Chef Special is Beef Wellington. The most expensive item on the menu at $19.95, Beef Wellington is filet wrapped in butter dough and topped with a mushroom cap.
