Dearborn Sacred Heart Catholic School Third Graders Storm Lansing

On Friday March 21, 2014 Sacred Heart Catholic School in Dearborn sent a luxury liner bus full of 3rd graders and chaperones to Lansing with a goal to investigate Michigan history.  Naturally, the first stop was the Michigan Historical Museum where the students explored our state from the very beginning up until the present.  One of the parents Robert Shinske of Dearborn says “it is awesome how the kids can read about our history in books, and then actually experience the history live in Lansing.  It ties everything all together.”  After seeing a life size statue of Michigan’s first boy governor (Stevens T. Mason) at the museum, the super bus then headed over to the Capitol Building.  At the Capitol, the third graders experienced every nook and cranny, learning each detail of the recent renovation of the building.  The students seemed extremely amazed at the architecture and related details.  One student exclaimed “this is awesome!” as they gazed up toward the colorful dome from the first floor.  At the conclusion of their tour, all gathered in front of the state capitol for a group picture.  Who knows, maybe one of our future legislators is in the picture.  Principal Melissa Lambrecht says that Sacred Heart strives to make learning an enjoyable experience for Sacred Heart kids.
