Christmas Tree Lighting and Sing-Along Event Schedule

Find out what's going on and when at this year's Tree Lighting and Sing-Along.

The City of Dearborn’s annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and Sing-Along will be held this evening at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center from 6 to 9:30 p.m. 

As an added attraction, guests at this event can enjoy a presentation of the original holiday movie “Frosty the Snowman” in the Michael A. Guido Theater, and hear a selection of holiday music performed by the Dearborn Big Band in the Theater Lobby.

The schedule of events on Dec. 9 is as follows: 


  • 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. -Dearborn Big Band (Michael A. Guido Theater Lobby)
  • 6:35 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. -Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony with Mayor John B. O’Reilly, Jr. and Honorary Assistant Ahmed Alhawati, a 7-year-old student from Lowrey Elementary School (outside, in the Theater Circular Drive)
  • 6:55 p.m. -Holiday movie presentation of “Frosty the Snowman”
  • 7:20 p.m. -Holiday-themed performance featuring the Dearborn Public Schools Elementary and Middle School Honors Choirs
  • 7:45 p.m. - Christmas Sing-Along with Mayor John B. O’Reilly, Jr.
  • 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. - Visit with Santa Claus in Studio A.

The Tree-Lighting Ceremony and Sing-Along is supported by the Dearborn Lions Club, Nigosian Oriental Rug Company, Park Place Catering, and Tim Hortons. It is free to attend.
