5 Upcoming Shows at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center

Here's a look at five family-friendly shows scheduled for October at the Performing Arts Center in Dearborn.

Sweetest Day is Oct. 19 this year. If you are looking for a relaxing night out with your special loved one, check out these upcoming shows at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center.

1. Stan Barnes and Friends Live in Concert 

Come out and enjoy great music and witness an exhilarating performance that leaves you wanting more. Experience musical excellence in a wholesome, stress-free setting where class and elegance meet in a wonderful array of talent. The concert takes place at 7 p.m. Oct. 12.

2. Mid-Autumn Festival Performance presented by the Chinese Association of Greater Detroit 

The Mid-Autumn Festival is a popular harvest festival celebrated by Chinese, Vietnamese and Filipinos. The festival is held on the 15th day of the eighth month in the lunar calendar. It is considered the second most important holiday tradition after the Chinese New Year. CAGD is hosting a performance of local artists to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival and promote cultural diversity in Michigan at 4 p.m. on Oct. 13.

3. Pieces of a Dream

Pieces of a Dream emerged out of the Philadelphia music scene in 1976. Now they are internationally known for their contemporary jazz music with James Lloyd (keyboardist) and Curtis Harmon (drummer). The concert takes place at 7 p.m. on Oct. 19. All seats are $35.

4. Motor City Brass Band presents "Horns & Howls - A Twisted Tale"

Motor City Brass Band presents their annual Halloween event at 3 p.m. Oct. 27. Costume contest for children. Adults are encouraged to come in costume. Special guests Stacey Mason (violin/vocal), and Richard Fridge (vocals). Senior, student or group discounts are available.

5. Boo Bash

Dearborn Recreation & Parks present its annual Boo Bash for children of elementary school age. Put on your Halloween costume and enjoy an evening of games, food and festivities. Tickets are $10 each and must be purchased in advance by Oct. 29.
