5 Things to Know As Dearborn Students Head Back to School

From open houses to inservice days, here are five dates in September and October you should know.

The first day of school for Dearborn students is today, and now that the back-to-school shopping is done and class schedules are assigned, there are a few upcoming dates for students and parents to keep in mind.

1. Open Houses (Elementary School)

There will be open houses for all Dearborn elementary schools on Sept. 19. An open house for Lowrey, McCollough/Unis and Salina Intermediate will be held on Sept. 25.

2. Open Houses (High School)

An open house for students at Dearborn High School, Edsel Ford High School and Fordson High School will be held on Sept. 24. An open house for the Dearborn Center for Math, Science & Technology, Henry Ford Early College, Magnet High School and Michael Berry Career Center will be held on Sept. 26.

3. Late Start Day

All students start one hour later on Sept. 11. To view a list of start times by building, visit the Dearborn Schools website.

4. MEAP Testing

The Michigan Educational Assessment Program tests will be administered at Dearborn Public Schools on Oct. 8-11 and Oct. 21-23.

5. Fall Vacation Days

No school will be held on Oct. 8-11. All students do not have to attend class.
