DESCRIPTION:Rogers and Hammerstein&rsquo\;s classic musical The King and 
 I comes to life on the stage of the Edsel Ford High School Auditorium\, 
 at 7 p.m.\, Thursday through Saturday\, May 3\, 4 and 5.\nAn additional 
 matinee will be performed at 3 p.m. on May 5\, 2012.\nThe Edsel Ford Hig
 h School Performing Arts Department will present this classic musical pr
 oduction\, which has an appeal for all ages. &nbsp\;\nStudents from DuVa
 ll Elementary\, Stout Middle School and other Dearborn Public Schools su
 pport the performing Arts Students of Edsel Ford High School in &ldquo\;
 The King and I.&rdquo\;&nbsp\; The younger students appear in principal 
 roles as well as in the chorus and dance scenes of this musical producti
 on.\nThe story of &ldquo\;The King and I&rdquo\; depicts the experiences
  of a British schoolteacher\, Anna\, who is hired as part of the King of
  Siam's drive to modernize his country in the 1860s. The relationship be
 tween the King and Anna is marked by conflict through much of the play\,
  as well as by a love that neither is able to express.\n&ldquo\;The King
  and I&rdquo\; is the fifth musical by the team of Richard Rodgers and O
 scar Hammerstein II. It premiered on Broadway in 1951.&nbsp\;\nThe music
 al is based on the 1944 novel &ldquo\;Anna and the King of Siam&rdquo\; 
 by Margaret Landon and derives from the memoirs of Anna Leonowens\, who 
 became governess to the children of King Mongkut of Siam in the early 18
 60s.\nTicket prices are\, in advance: $8 students and senior citizens\; 
 $10 general admission. At the door: $10 students and senior citizens\; $
 12 general admission.\nBox office hours are Monday-Friday\, 2:30-6 p.m. 
 beginning April 23 for advance ticket sales. On Thursday and Friday\, Ma
 y 3 and 4\, the box office is open for pre-sale ticket sales from 2:30-4
  p.m.\; regular ticket sales begin at 6 p.m. prior to the 7 p.m. perform
 ance.&nbsp\; On Saturday\, May 5\, the box office opens one hour before 
 the 3 p.m. matinee and one hour before the 7 p.m. evening performance.\n
 CAST LIST\nPlease note: Most roles are double cast. This gives more stud
 ents the opportunity to perform in a role and to prepare in the event an
  understudy is needed.&nbsp\; Students all attend Edsel Ford High School
