Perennial Exchange and Church Garden Planting

First Baptist Church is hosting a Perennial Exchange on Saturday, May 19, 2012 from 9 – 11 AM.  This will be a great opportunity for gardeners to get together, swap gardening advice, and get free plants! Everyone brings their extra plants and goes home with someone else's extras. Many people are willing to give away plants without receiving a trade in return, so it's a great way for new gardeners to get some free flowers, and for everyone to get new ideas.

In addition to the Perennial Exchange, May 19, 2012 will also be the planting day for the FBC Community Garden.  Last year the garden produced over 200 pounds of fresh vegetables for the food bank at Friendship House in Hamtramck.  This year we will be planting tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, and beans, all for Friendship House or other local food banks.

The planting will occur between 9 – 11 AM, at the same time as the Perennial Exchange. Volunteers are welcome!
