Tom Shellberg will speak on "Choosy Women & Cheating Men: Evolution and Human Behavior."

In his talk Tom will discuss how evolutionary psychology makes sense of our behavior.

Why are women so much more choosy about mates than men are? Why do men especially like sex with new partners? Why do humans have so much non-procreative sex compared to other mammals?

Tom will address these questions and other topics related to human behavior including: team sports, patriotism and war, why some people are gay, why most people are religious, and why our design is so unintelligent.

About the Speaker

Tom Shellberg is a retired Professor of Biology at Henry Ford Community College. During his time at Henry Ford he noted the lack of an entry level behavioral biology course. In response to this he created a model course on Evolution and Human Behavior that he taught until he retired. The course was recognized as an international model for teaching evolutionary biology and later became the basis for his recent book Choosy Women and Cheating Men: Evolution and Human Behavior. Tom was twice voted Professor of the Year at Henry Ford and was chosen for the Faculty Lectureship on The Modern Evolution Revolution.

He has written many articles and given talks at professional conferences about Evolution and Behavior Education, and was recently featured on Atheists Speak-Up, a production of the Michigan Atheists.
