A-OK Detroit 9/11 Service Day | Sunday Sept. 9th
4901 Evergreen Rd, Dearborn, MI | Get Directions »
FREE
On September 9, 2012, hundreds of metro Detroiters will come together in solidarity as part of President Barack Obama’s call to make September 11 an annual National Day of Service and Remembrance. At the Acts of Kindness (A-OK) Detroit Service Day, an estimated 600 volunteers will participate in an assortment of projects that incorporate food packaging, gardening, and social awareness through art as part of this year’s theme of food security. People of different faiths, ethnic backgrounds, and races will work together to bring recovery and renewal to Detroit while learning they have much in common and developing a spirit of volunteerism that will last beyond the day of service. Volunteers will also break out into smaller groups to participate in a structured dialogue to promote a sense of unity, peace, community-building, and mutual understanding. It will truly be a wonderful event filled with camaraderie, a spirit of giving, and harmony. Register at bit.ly/MBd4Xe.
