Want to be a one percenter? Go into business for yourself. You don't need to be a collegeRead Moregrad. B ill Gates and Steve Jobs were dropouts. They , however, had some incredible ideas, and , as a result, developed those ideas for billions of dollars. Sure, they control a lot of wealth, but it is their wealth, not anyone else's so what's the beef? If you want to be wealthy, start innovating. Otherwise, as you say, you are just a whiner, complaining about others who know how to make money, real money. Read the history of Henry Ford. He didn't become a one percenter the first attempt, or the second attempt, both times going bankrupt. The third time was the charm. Not interested in money? Then don't whine......

Joe, are you registered to vote? A driver's license? If so , you are already registered withRead Morethe govt, with the state. Any cop can run your license plate and know your 'history'. That includes registered weapons. Of course, by now you know the 'flyer' was a hoax, so no big deal there, but the fact is, everyone in America is registered, and so what was your Social Security number again? A number all of us have? How does this policy compare with Israel as well?

It makes more sense to eliminate the minimum wage all together, and let folk make more than theRead More$10. 50 that you propose. A wage is not cast in stone, it is negotiable. When you apply for a position, the wage is dependent upon what you bring to the table in the way of attitude and skills, and how convincing you are with respect to presenting those aspects to a prospective employer. Right now, it is easy for business to just say, "we offer minimum wage for starting positions". Imagine, without a minimum wage, they would have to actually have a discussion concerning wages. Odds are, one can negotiate much better than even $10.50. By the way Joe, your numbers are off. Minimum wage in 1968 was 1.25 per hour, and went up to 1.60 in 1972. http://www.dol.gov/whd/state/stateMinWageHis.htm

The reason business folk in the banking industry are not going to prison is simple, they areRead Morefollowi ng the rules of the govt. Business can't make the rules, only the govt can. If anything is corrupt, it is due to the govt being there with it's hand out. Time to make govt a lot more simple....flat tax for a starter, and get rid of the 12,000 pages of tax codes that let certain folk get huge tax breaks and pay no taxes, and allows 47% of folk in the USA not to pay any Federal taxes, totally unfair system.....hate t say it, but Putin's tax system makes a lot more sense.

Joe, the govt controls the rules on how business conducts its affairs. Hard to find fault withRead Morebus iness, all they can do is try to influence the govt, whose fault is it when the govt accepts?

Joe, it's called 'name dropping' . First impressions count, just ask the gals, so having theRead More'toys' by working hard, earning lots of $$ , is a choice. Women are not blinded by the light, they see a hard working possible good mate, if they are single. Better to cover the bumps in the road in a Mercedes rather than a bicycle, if you have the smarts to afford the better baubles in life. Look at Cary, married a rich woman, not once, but twice, and that does not happen unless you mix with the rich and famous crowd. Who is the other Dem we can blame for this winter climate change, Gore?? How could he let this happen?? Doggone global warming.....

Why would anyone vote for a party that has turned the city of Detroit into a bankrupt mess? ForRead Moreth e last 60 years, Detroit has been run by the Dems, and since Coleman Young, by black mayors, and still Detroit continued to spiral downward. Kwame was the fnal straw, perhaps Duggan , with a proven track record of administrating, and yes , he happens to be white, can turn Detroit around. True , he is a Dem, but Detroit folk must be in a daze or something, voting for the same folk who do nothing to improve Detroit. Perhaps this time a Dem can do something besides have his hand in the till.. Did they ever find the wayward lost absent without leave council president, another Dem, what was his name, Pews? Last seen in a coffee shop in Seattle? Is this the best the Dems can do?

First impressions with Obamacare may be lasting, particularly if 2015 turns out to be asRead Moreinteresting as 2014 has been. What one sees is exactly what one gets, more cost, different doctors, longer waits, unless you do what many are expected to do, pay retainers to doctors for immediate care.

Live for today, who knows what tomorrow will bring.....after all, the govt will be there to saveRead Moreus. It should be the other way around! The rich get to buy their politicians. The 'regular folks'Read Morecan' t. The regular folks should get MORE votes per person to equalize the playing field.
Lee Jacobsen April 11, 2014 at 07:15 PM
Even if the rich do buy their politicians to change the rules for them, that is one of the perks of Read Morebeing rich, and they buy both sides of the political fence. How so? look who is currently in power, Obama and the Dems, so their hands must be extended and , since the tax rules don't appear to be changed, subsidies are still in place, the bribes are doing the job, the Dems obviously like taking money from Wall Street. The republicans will change this, perhaps even the Tea Pot folk, it can't get any worse, and again, it is obvious that Obama is doing nothing to stop the Dems from taking money since the rules have not been changed, not even a little bit. By the way, rich Obama has plenty of investments in the Cayman Islands as well, easy enough to Google.

Again, it was Clinton that deregulated the loan qualifications for obtaining a mortgage, requiringRead Moreb anks to give loans to almost anyone rich enough to rub two nickels together. Can't afford to pay for a home? The consequence is getting tossed out onto the streets and back to rental options. Home ownership is the purchaser's responsibility, not anyone else. Bargaining , wages, benefits, and pensions are not lost, only to those that expect something for nothing, takers rather than makers. Obamacare is a good example, under Obamacare, the more you earn, the higher your healthcare premium. That is wrong, the cost should be the same for everyone signing up for the same plan irregardless of what you make, since we all receive the same healthcare.. It does not matter, Obamacare will self destruct on it's own, folk will pay doctors 'retainer' fees to get first dibs on care, the result is long waits for the rest, but they will be comforted by the knowledge that their healthcare was the best at a very low cost, even though many will die while waiting for that care. Speculation? Check out the Canadian and England wait times for intricate cancer surgeries etc. The average wait times are 4 months. Can you imagine being told that the cancer will continue to grow in your body for 4 months, until we get to you. This is a govt recording. Cancer deaths are 88% higher in England. Wall Street is simply following the rules established by the govt, currently under Obama and theRead MoreDem s. Republicans can't deregulate if they don't control or make the rules. Again, the financial debacle was initiated by Clinton, by deregulating loan qualification requirements. Easy enough to Google for the facts.

The USA is currently 32nd in the world with respect to the intelligence of its math students. Read MoreWall Street bankers, following the rules established by the Govt, are hobbled with rules and regulations that don't allow much time for math. They could improve this standing if the rules were changed. Unfortunately, as mentioned, the govt controls the rules of business and the math it uses. The govt could change the rules, but the Govt is currently controlled by Obama and the Dems, and they approve the business practices as they are now, since they are leaving the rules alone. but that will change soon,.......

It's not a safe, practical matter to mix hallucinogens with prescription drugs. It is anRead More"idio tlogical" stretch driven by hate of Obama for the extreme right to actually have tried to fix Obama to the financial collapse of September 2008. It was the Republican practice of "De-Regulation" under the Pretender George W Bush that caused that financial disaster that cost the American economy 17.1 trillion dollars, and pushed the American middle-class into poverty. Actually, Clinton was the one who relaxed the requirements to obtain a mortgage, to the point whenRead Moree ven a babysitter would probably qualify. The Dems wanted every American to be able to afford a home, a noble cause, and changed the rules to make it so. The banks were required to follow the rules. Unfortunately , babysitters can't afford the house payments. Those tainted mortgages festered and caused the mortgage meltdown crash of 2008. Thanks Clinton....
