Michael D. Albano July 12, 2014 at 07:20 AM
Both the Republicans and Democrats gerrymander when it is to their advantage, and they feel theyRead Morecan get away with it. What we should do away with is both parties and start a party that represents the majority of the people and the shrinking, working middle class.

If a woman wants birth control, she doesn't need the company she works for to be the decidingRead Morefacto r in making that decision. Birth control as part of Obamacare was a mistake in the first place. The govt could have made other provisions for making available funds to pay for birth control for those who could not afford the few dollars a month, perhaps allowing food stamps to also cover contraceptives as well. Regarding your precedent, it does not apply as the owners of the business are not making birth control decisions for employees, the owners are simply not paying for birth control. The employees are free to decide to either wait on 'fooling around' , or pay for their own birth control. Catholics are in a quandary since the 'rhythm' method of birth control is not foolproof and contraceptives are sinful. Most Catholics, in my opinion, make their own call on the issue....after 2014, with Dem minority in the House and Senate, the contraceptive issue part of Obamacare will be no doubt tossed out, making the Hobby Lobby issue moot.

Sandra, when visiting Kroger a couple days ago the office line for returns and lottery tickets wasRead Moreb usy. Details are important they should have posted a sign saying, "New Fuel Station on North Side of MI Ave. Coming Soon." It's harsh (to you) but they mislead us. It was either carefully planned and deliberate or they were ignorant, stupid and uncaring. Why should I have to ask Kroger management what's going on!??? I've already been INCONVENIENCED when entering Kroger from Outer Drive as you cannot drive through to the mall. It's all blocked off WITHOUT WARNING! So they misled and deceived us on two accounts. 1) Where the fuel station will go and 2) The entrance to the mall from Outer Drive is blocked off. mis·lead misˈlēd/ verb cause (someone) to have a wrong idea or impression about someone or something. Synonyms deceive de·ceive diˈsēv/ verb (of a person) cause (someone) to believe something that is not true, typically in order to gain some personal advantage. Do We Need A Gas Station along the heart of downtown Dearborn??? Would another community with "class" do this in their town? You said, "The Kroger on the SE corner of Michigan and Outer Drive is both being enlarged (it will extend to the Dollar Store)." What about the dentist office next to Kroger? It's all about one company taking over! Why doesn't Dearborn have a Trader Joe's or Whole Foods? The city should say NO to a gas station!

Nit Picking is the 4 versus 4400 Benghazi versus Iraq. Nit picking is the lies told after (Read MoreBengh azi ) versus before ( Iraq) I guess 4400 is NOT enough for you.
Lee Jacobsen July 12, 2014 at 01:52 AM
4400 killed in Iraq is 4400 too many. Our govt, both parties, examined the data at the time, andRead Moreag reed to go into Iraq. The house of Rep, signed an agreement authorizing the action. Hindsight shows it was a wrong move, both parties share the blame. Bush got us in, Obama is supposed to get us out. We are still there. Part of Obama's job is protecting our consulates/embassies. Didn't happen. His job also is to give our wounded Vets care, not happening. Thousands of kids are crossing the border illegally, instead of sending them back, we are spending billions on their care, while many of our kids starve. What percentage of Americans agree with this policy, this game plan ?
Richard Cranium July 12, 2014 at 12:38 PM
Lee, it is not nit picking to differentiate an Embassy from a Consulate. An embassy typically isRead Moremo re heavily fortified and has many more defense options. That said Ambasador Stevens ignored the threat to his own safety and chose to be "a man of the people". His own personal choices put him and his detail at greater than normal risk. So you are saying that government I.E. Obama has the duty to p rotect us when we make choices outside of normal policy? You are saying that government has to do for me what I'm unwilling to do for myself? Look up Ambassador Stevens history. He was a RISK taker in order to NOT live behind fortified walls. He lived an admirable life. He made the U.S. many friends through risks to his own safety. His loss is tragic but he was partially responsible. So do you now become a liberal and expect the government to do everything for everyone? The VA has been a mess for decades. And what is your proposal for the Mexican border? Machine Guns? Skip any investigation of amnesty claims?
Lee Jacobsen July 10, 2014 at 12:07 AM
One of the main reasons Americans get sick is being overweight. 2/3rds of our kids are 'chubby'. Read MoreH as nothing to do with doctors or greed, but has a lot to do with the lack of will power to push away from the dinner table....or cut down on fast food......

Good point Joe! That probably explains why the media is shut out by the govt when trying toRead Moreinvest igate the Bengazi mess. Why, for example, are the folk that did escape the Bengazi USA embassy still sequestered? Why no 'Reader's Digest ' accounts of their experiences and comments? The current govt is censoring mainstream media for a reason, with elections approaching, I wonder what that reason is?

I wonder how Nancy Astor would respond to ineptocracy? What is that again?Read MoreIneptocracy…&hel lip;..A system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely of sustaining themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers. Nancy, and you Joe, no doubt support the latter part of the definition. Obviously you imply that there is something wrong with 99% of folk controlling 55% of the nation's wealth. With the right ideas, and motivation, that 99% can control even more of the nation's wealth. Problem is, not everyone has ideas, or the desire to get off the couch, so they "are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the conficated weath of a diminishing amount of producers" , in other words, the one percenters.

Nature loves to adapt to change, and other bees and technology will come along to pollenate theRead Morecro ps. For example , the Blue Orchard bee is one alternative. The blue orchards rarely sting and, because of their solitary nature, do not swarm. They are incredibly efficient pollinators: for fruit trees, 2,000 blue orchards can do the work of 100,000 honeybees. Their biggest drawback is that beekeepers can increase their population only by a factor of three to eight a year; a honeybee colony can expand from several dozen individuals to 20,000 in a few months. Regarding chickens, we need to determine if hot wings are even needed, as evidence shows that the planet is getting cooler, aka record arctic ice etc this year, Lake Superior may be thawed out in a month or two...does that sound like global warming to you?
