I'm Jonathan Mazzei – welcome to my Patch.com blog.
My primary creative force is being the frontman and songwriter for Michigan-based band, The Wall Clocks.
I also work at WUMD, the University of Michigan-Dearborn's radio station, as a DJ and radio personality. I'm a published poet, and am interested in all different approaches to writing, even outside of music. That is what brings me here.
I like to immerse myself in all forms of art, but there are some things that even I look past. Sometimes I feel as though I need to go to an art gallery or underground theatre to view art, but I forget that art tends to stare us in the face from the moment we wake up until the moment we go to sleep.
I, like many others, feel as though the mainstream may have done its best to kill off art in its circle of grandeur. But I haven't given up yet! Anything that is suppressed tends to seep its way through to the top, and though it may be subtle, it's there. I am taking it upon myself to find it. But where shall I look?
Well, each and every one of us owns a canvas where the painting changes with each and every moment. I am talking about your television set.
Sometimes I feel appalled watching what sad excuse for entertainment is being fed into living rooms all over the world, but other times, I am extremely impressed and inspired by the creativity of the artists behind certain television programs.
I will be writing from both perspectives in this blog, and at the least, I hope you are entertained by what I have to say.
It was nice starting this conversation with you! We will speak again soon.
